The Fourth Annual Northeast U.S. Capri Meet

The “Connecticut Capri Connection 2005”

July 9, 2005

NEW!      CCC2005 Video!

Once again I had a great turnout at this third Connecticut Capri meet.  The weather cooperated nicely as we just dodged the remnants of tropical storm Cindy.  It had rained heavily the day before, and forecasts were for more, but it cleared up nicely for the barbeque.  We had a total of EIGHT Capri’s show up with a total of 18 guests.  Those in attendance included:

·        The Szypulski’s (of course) including Ted, Dottie and Robin with Ted’s one-owner 1976 MKII with Décor Group option, 2.8L V6 and 4 speed and his newly acquired 1976 MKII with Décor Group option, 2.3L OHC4 and 4 speed transmission.

·        Laura Szypulski and her friend Rolf, in from Troy, NY.  She had her 1976 MKII Ghia, 2.8L V6 and 4 speed.

·        Ken and Marilyn Kmiec from Virginia.  Ken trailered up his sweet 1973 MKI with 2.6L and 4 speed, and a LOT of custom modifications.

·        Dirk Harkopf of Connecticut with his German spec 1979 MKIII with 2.8L and 5 speed, and a lot of neat interior and exterior enhancements.

·        Bart Manhard of New Hampshire with Bart’s fully restored copper ’74 with 2.0 and 4 speed.  Bart is original owner of this nicely restored MKI with over 250,000 miles now on it.  He recently did a major engine overhaul with new pistons and a higher compression ratio.

·        Adam Berlin of Connecticut without his 1976 MKII Ghia with 2.8L and 4 speed.

·        Larry Wells of New York with “Colonel Mustard”, his orange ’71 with 2.0 and 4 speed.

·        Don Murphy of New York with his 1973 MKI with 2.6L and 4 speed transmission.  Don replaced his engine with a spare between the Carlisle 2005 show and the CCC2005.  I guess it works well, as he made the trip.

·        Jerry, Cindy, Theresa and Jerry, Jr. Bishop of Massachusetts, without his 1977 Capri.

·        George Parson and friend Jennifer of Connecticut with Jennifer’s mint 1976 Porsche 911S Targa.  Yes, we let it in because it’s a 70’s German sports car!
